Clintonville Outfitters is proud to partner
with Woods & Water Ecotours to offer our
first multi-day kayaking excursion this
summer!
Camp out under the cedars and stars; listen to
Lake Huron lap on the shores. The following
day pack up gear and depart by sea kayak.
Begin the paddle journey into the chain of
islands from the Pine River mouth, a historic
Native American inland passage. We will
continue rounding a large peninsula and
finding our campsite hidden at Hiawatha
National Forest ’s Search Bay . Our journey
will continue through the island stopping at
island nature preserves for lunch. Float by a
tranquil scenery of times past; with intimate
views of unique and historic boathouses,
wooden Cris Craft’s, and sailboats. Conclude
our day camping on Government Island.
This public island is only accessible by water
and hosts beautiful trails following the lake
shore. Throughout the trip experience
unique marshes and cobble shores. Plan to
see rare Great Lakes Marshes, migrating
waterfowl and raptors, experience the sweet
waters of Lake Huron , learn why this
watershed is so vital to a diversity of species.
Base camps will include campfires and good
company. Hiking options will also be available
and will be determined by the group and daily
weather.

paddling effort mild. Participants do not need to know how to roll a kayak, just poses basic
paddle skills and a desire to make the jump from day trips to multi-day paddling.
Group count is limited to 8-10 participants and will likely book up fast. As the trip nears
information meetings and shakedown paddles can be arranged for those interested. The
group will need to make the drive up but hopefully some carpooling can be arranged.
